Summary of Case

On January 4, 2009, Mohammad Imran of local daily Eitedal was killed along with six others in a suicide attack in front of the Government Polytechnic College in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province's Dera Ismail Khan district. The attack took place near an imambargah and also claimed the life of another journalist — Dr Tahir Awan of local daily Apna Akhbar . According to Dawn, the attack was followed by a low-intensity explosion.

Quoting witnesses, the report added that some people fired on an ambulance when it was transporting Imran’s body to his residence.

According to police, no arrests have been made so far and there are no suspects either. The DC office did not have any Information regarding the arrest of any accused or any information on the status of any court proceedings around the attack.
