Incident Description: Shot Dead

On May 22, 2008, a correspondent for Express News television channel and Daily Express, Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, was killed after five gunmen shot him near Inayat Kali in Khar Bajaur tehsil (district) in Bajaur Agency in the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). According to a Dawn report, Khan was sprayed with bullets when he was going to his village from Mamond tehsil on a motorcycle.

He died on the way to the hospital. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the report, Khan, who was the general secretary of the Tribal Union of Journalists (Bajaur unit), had interviewed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman, Maulvi Umar, in the morning. The report added that as per witnesses, the gunmen had snatched a camera and a cellphone from Khan before he was gunned down.

Khan's brother, Noor Muhammad, told PPF that the case had not been investigated nor had anyone claimed responsibility for the attack.
